DRIFTIT is out on Steam

The desktop version of DRIFTIT came out on Steam on 24 October 2026 for Windows, Mac and Linux, at $4.99. It is the same car, the same physics and the same 20 tracks you can drive in the browser, rebuilt as a desktop game with Steam's leaderboards, cloud saves and full gamepad support.

The Steam version runs the same physics and tracks as the browser game.

What stays the same

The game itself. DRIFTIT is a top-down drift game: one car, a camera straight overhead and a handbrake. Every track is a short three-lap time attack against a target time; touch a wall and the run starts over from the grid. Points come from speed and angle, and a held drift climbs the multiplier by ×0.5 every 1.5 seconds up to ×10 (the scoring guide has the details). Your personal best rides along as a ghost, with a split at every checkpoint.

The Steam build is a fork of the browser game: the physics, the 20 tracks and the five low-poly worlds (a sunny meadow circuit, a red-rock desert, an autumn valley, a snowy mountain pass and a neon harbour at night) come straight from it, plus the free-roam airfield with cones and a donut ring. Everything in our drifting guide and the track guides applies to both.

What the Steam version adds

  • Steam leaderboards for every track, with an Everyone and a Friends view, under your Steam name. No separate sign-in.
  • Replay-checked times. Every time goes up with the replay of the run, and the game re-drives the replays of the times it shows, so a time that does not add up stays off your board. (The browser board does the same check on our server.)
  • Steam Cloud keeps your progress, bests, ghosts and settings on every computer you play on.
  • Gamepad settings: steering sensitivity, stick dead zone, linear or progressive steering, trigger dead zones and vibration, with Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo button prompts. Menus work on the pad too.
  • Five languages: English, Polish, Spanish, Ukrainian and Simplified Chinese. The browser game is English only.
  • A real desktop app: full screen with a key (F11 or Alt+Enter), no browser tab to lose focus, and a result card after every run that lands in your Steam screenshots.

If you want to try it, the browser is the quickest way: it is free and opens in a tab. If you like it, the Steam version is the one to keep, play on a pad from the couch, and race your friends on.

System requirements

Modest, as the browser game is. From the store page's minimums: Windows 10 64-bit, a 2 GHz dual-core, 4 GB of RAM and integrated graphics with DirectX 11; macOS 13 Ventura on Apple Silicon or an Intel Core i5 with a Metal GPU; Linux Ubuntu 22.04 or SteamOS 3 with an OpenGL 3.3 / Vulkan GPU. It takes 350 to 500 MB of disk. The leaderboards need an internet connection; the driving does not.

Why a review helps

For a small game, Steam reviews matter most: until a game has ten of them, Steam shows no review score at all, and the score is one of the signals Steam uses for what to show people. If you play DRIFTIT on Steam and have an opinion of it, good or bad, a short review is the most useful thing you can do for it. If you are not ready to buy, a wishlist still helps: Steam emails you when it goes on sale.
