Drift games on Mac

Search for drift games on a Mac and you get a 2011 download that only runs on Intel, game-jam builds, phone emulators and a 2018 App Store app. The big drift games of the last few years (CarX, JDM, Assetto Corsa) are Windows only. But there are good ones with real macOS versions. We checked every game below on its store page in October 2026: platform, price and what the Mac version asks for.

In short: free, right now, in Safari → DRIFTIT. On Steam with a Mac version → Absolute Drift (top-down, $14.99), Parking Garage Rally Circuit (arcade, Apple Silicon, $9.99), art of rally ($24.99), Hashiriya Drifter (online, $1.99), #DRIVE Rally ($19.99). Not on Mac: CarX Drift Racing Online, JDM, Assetto Corsa, DiRT Rally 2.0.

Free, in the browser

1. DRIFTIT (Safari, Chrome, Firefox · free · on Steam for Mac)

A car sliding through a corner on an alpine track in DRIFTIT, seen from straight above
An alpine track in DRIFTIT, one of its 5 worlds.

Ours, so weigh this with that in mind. DRIFTIT is a top-down drift game in the spirit of Absolute Drift: one car, the camera straight overhead, a handbrake and 20 short tracks, three laps each against a target time, with a ghost of your best run and online leaderboards. Points come from speed and drift angle, and a held slide builds a multiplier.

On a Mac it needs nothing: open it in Safari, Chrome or Firefox and drive. It is played on the keyboard (arrows or WASD, Space for the handbrake, Esc to pause, the menus too), so a MacBook with no mouse and no controller is enough; a gamepad works as well. Runs set in Safari count on the same leaderboards as everyone else's: the server re-drives every run from its recorded inputs before it goes on the board.

It is also on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux at $4.99, since 24 October 2026. The Mac version asks for macOS 13 Ventura on Apple Silicon or an Intel Core i5 with a Metal GPU; what the Steam version adds.

2. Absolute Drift ($14.99 · Windows, Mac, Linux)

Funselektor's 2015 game is the reason top-down drifting is a genre. Clean, almost empty worlds, 34 levels across Driftkhana, Drifting and Mountain Drifting, free-roam areas, ghosts and online leaderboards. Steam lists a 64-bit Mac build with full controller support and very low requirements (2 GB of RAM, 350 MB of disk), so it runs on almost any Mac. The developers say it is best played with a controller, and it is hard: expect the first hour to be mostly spinning. If you like it, our games like Absolute Drift list goes further.

3. Parking Garage Rally Circuit ($9.99 · Windows, Mac, Linux)

Walaber's 2024 arcade racer turns multi-storey car parks into race tracks, in a late-1990s console look. The controls are exactly "accelerate, reverse, steer, drift", so sliding through the tight ramps is the whole game. There are time trials and multi-lap races, online lobbies for up to 8 players and split-screen for 2 to 4. It is the only pick here whose Steam page names Apple Silicon outright (macOS 10.15 or newer, "x86_64 or ARM CPU"), and 96 % of its 1,600+ Steam reviews are positive.

4. art of rally ($24.99 · Windows, Mac, Linux)

Also by Funselektor: rally from the 1960s to Group B on stylised stages, seen from a high camera. It is a rally game, not a drift game, but the cars live sideways on gravel and snow, and the handling feels like a grown-up Absolute Drift. The Mac version needs macOS 10.13 and a GTX 650-class GPU; the store page recommends a MacBook Pro or an iMac rather than an entry-level laptop. We compared it with its neighbours in games like art of rally.

5. Hashiriya Drifter ($1.99 · Windows, Mac, Linux)

The closest thing on Mac to the "online drift culture" games. Midnight Games' 2020 game is inspired by old-school Japanese street drifting: online multiplayer, deep tuning, and you can build a car from a bare chassis, suspension included. It is rough around the edges and looks it, but it costs two dollars and the Mac build asks only for macOS 10.13 and an Intel i3. It was built for Intel Macs, so on Apple Silicon it runs through Rosetta 2 (see below).

6. #DRIVE Rally ($19.99 · Windows, Mac, Linux)

Pixel Perfect Dude's 2025 arcade rally game: 25 cars in three classes, over 600 km of stages in six locations from snowy Finland to US deserts, global leaderboards with saved ghosts and a free-roam mode. The store page does not talk about drifting, so treat it as the pick for sliding on loose surfaces rather than drifting as a sport. Mac: macOS 11, 4 GB of RAM, 5 GB of disk.

The big drift games that are not on Mac

Most "best drift games" lists are written for Windows. These are the ones Mac owners ask about most, and on Steam every one of them lists Windows only:

  • CarX Drift Racing Online (and its Early Access sequel): the default online drift game on PC.
  • JDM: Japanese Drift Master: open-world drifting with a story.
  • Assetto Corsa: the modding-heavy sim most drift servers run on.
  • DiRT Rally 2.0: the first DiRT Rally had a Mac port; the sequel did not.
  • Inertial Drift, Drift86, Initial Drift Online and Touge Shakai: the touge and arcade drift games.

If you want one of these on a Mac anyway, you have two routes, neither guaranteed. Cloud gaming streams a Windows PC to your Mac, so it works for any game the service supports; check that the exact game is in its library before you pay. Compatibility layers (CrossOver, a Windows virtual machine) run some Windows games, but online games with anti-cheat often refuse to start, and performance varies a lot from game to game.

And the Mac App Store is not much help: searching it for drift brings up phone-style free-to-play car games and a few paid apps such as Drift Legends, whose last update was in 2018.

Apple Silicon, Intel and Rosetta

  • Native Apple Silicon builds (Parking Garage Rally Circuit, DRIFTIT on Steam) run directly on M-series chips. A browser game is always native: Safari or Chrome does the work.
  • Intel-only builds run on M-series Macs through Apple's Rosetta 2 translation, usually with no setup beyond a one-time prompt to install it.
  • The catch: Apple has said Rosetta 2 stays a general tool through macOS 27, and that after that it keeps only a subset aimed at older, unmaintained games. Older Intel-only games are the case it was kept for, but if a game matters to you, check its Steam page or forum for a native build.
  • How to read a Steam page: scroll to System Requirements and pick the macOS tab. If it mentions Apple Silicon, ARM or M1, the game is native; if it only names Intel CPUs, it is probably an Intel build.

Drifting on a MacBook keyboard

Most drift games are tuned for a controller, because a stick can hold a little steering while a key is all or nothing. On a keyboard the fix is to tap the steering keys instead of holding them and to feather the throttle, which is what our how to drift with a keyboard guide walks through. If you do have a controller, a PlayStation or Xbox pad pairs with a Mac over Bluetooth and works in most Steam games and in browser games like DRIFTIT; see drifting with a controller. No mouse at hand either? Games to play on a laptop without a mouse has more for MacBooks.

Which one to pick

For PC owners, the wider list is the best drift games on PC; on a handheld, drift games on Steam Deck, and the free ones (most run on a Mac in the browser) are in free drift games.
